Wish you all a merry christmas. May all your hopes, wishes and dreams come true.

Just a few tech related/nerdish jokes, I’ve found over the time here and there. Most of the stuff is quite old, but I thought there are worth to share anyways.
A young programmer and his project manager board a train headed through the mountains on its way to Wichita. They can find no place to sit, except for two seats right across the aisle from a young woman and her grandmother. After a while, it’s obvious that the young woman and the young programmer are interested in each other, because they are giving each other looks. Soon the train passes into a tunnel and it is pitch black. There is a sound of a kiss followed by the sound of a slap.
When the train emerges from the tunnel, the four sit there without saying a word. The grandmother is thinking to herself, “It was very brash for that young man to kiss my granddaughter, but I’m glad she slapped him.”
The project manager is sitting there thinking, “I didn’t know they young tech was brave enough to kiss the girl, but I sure wish she hadn’t missed him when she slapped me!”
The young woman was sitting and thinking, “I’m glad the guy kissed me, but I wish my grandmother had not slapped him!”
The young programmer sat there with a satisfied smile on his face. He thought to himself, “Life is good. How often does a guy have the chance to kiss a beautiful girl and slap his project manager all at the same time!”
Unfortunately it seems that a lot of technical death metal bands rather like to bask in their skills and technical details instead of convincing with a uncluttered release. As usual for dramatic times there is of course some light at the end of the tunnel, namely: Obscura and their killer release ‘Cosmogenesis’.
Obscura — featuring ex-members of Necrophagist and Pestilence — wrote an album that is filled with melodic-orientated guitar work, avantgarde bass line, fantastic and varied drumming and some vocoder that remembers of Cynic for sure, but instead of Cynic or Necrophagist they are notably more alterable and so ‘Cosmogenesis’ get’s never predictable or even boring.
I know 2009 is still young, but I’m pretty sure that ‘Cosmogensis’ will be hard to beat by other bands of the same genre.
By the way: thanks to the unwesen for pointing my interest to them.
Happy New Year to all the chinese people out there. May all your dreams, hopes and wishes come true and may 2009 a healthy, lucky and wealthy year for you.
A while ago, I got discovered K-1, which is broadcasted on EuroSport.
K-1 is a combat sport that combines stand up techniques from Muay Thai, Karate, Taekwondo, Savate, San Shou, Kickboxing and traditional Boxing. Check out the Wikipedia page for more information.
Tonight they showed Masato vs Kyshenko in the K-1 World Max Finals 2008 – one of the best fights/finals I’ve seen so far. Here’s the whole fight:

Robert Basic, owner of the well-known german blog basicthinking.de thinks about selling his creation. Basic Thinking is not just a blog — it’s the german blog. It’s one of those rare german blogs that really became successful over the years.
So why does he wants to sell it? Well, his major intention is to start something completely new, without the responsibility that comes along with being one of the most important german bloggers and without that kind of pressure that arouses such a label as basicthinking.de.
I can understand Robert’s thoughts and, for the case he really sells basicthinking.de, I wish him all the best for his a new project, although the german blog scene will lose one of it’s biggest and best contributers.
I guess, we will have to become used with stories like “cat’s flatulence”, as that’s what people seem to blog about these days (thanks to unwesen for this nice wording ;))
A small but fine hint for those who are chasing for some new ringtones and other mobile phone customization stuff: zedge.net
