B13 – Ultimatum

One of those movies that really surprised me, was Banliue 13 with David Belle. If you’d like Yamakasi or Riders, you will love this one too. Well, David Belle and Cyril Raffaelli are back in February 2009 with the sequel Banliue 13 – Ultimatum which has been shot recently. Since wednesday there are two featurettes about the new movie on the David Belle related website Mr Parkour.

To view all featurettes and see exclusive pictures from the making of Banlieue 13 – Ultimatum you can visit the film’s website at b13ultimatum-lefilm.com.

Oldboy US Remake

Hollywood can’t help doing it — there have been rumours all the time that Hollywood is preparing a remake of Chan-wook Park’s ingenious revenge movie ‘Oldboy’ (one of my favourite movies). Sad but true, it’s for sure now. Steven Spielberg wants to re-shoot the movie and Will Smith should be acting as his main character (there were some rumours before about starring Nicholas Cage). At the moment there isn’t any screenplay so far, but they’ve already got a studio: Universal. It seems that Hollywood is running out of ideas besides effect movies, otherwise I can’t explain to myself why they adopt nearly everything successful from asia (Ringu, Dark Water, Infernal Affairs, and a lot more). This one get’s a definite NO and FUCK YOU Hollywood.

Hell yeah

-uhm, Hellboy of course. On friday eve I’ve been in the cinema to see Hellboy 2, and to make it short: it’s a nice movie, but just a nice movie. In some way I’ve been disappointed and it hasn’t been the ass kicking sequel that I’ve expected (maybe I’ve to confess that my expectations have been a bit too high). It’s a again good story telling banned into nice pictures, but in somehow that special part was missing that made the first one so special. Maybe it’s the fact that the flic has got a more glammy than gloomy look like the first one. Maybe it’s the reason that the story itself isn’t very surprising (besides some small scenes). Maybe it’s something completely different. I don’t know, but for it haven’t been that characters. Hellboy and his pack is good as always, and also the Hellboys’ new boss (Johann Krauss) rocks — so I guess it’s something in the story that lacks. Anyways, it’s worth a visit.

Joy and Digust

I’ve to confess that I’m torn between joy and disgust. On one side, I’m really glad that Mel Brooks did something new, but on the other side his ‘Spaceballs – The Animated Series’, comes pretty close to my imagination of an old drooling man who put his little dirty fantasies into pictures. I’m really a big fan of Mel Brooks, but I guess the moment when we should keep him and his movies in good memory has exactly come now. This series isn’t really funny, most of the jokes are kinda flat and is completely based on sexual topics and/or allusions. The series starts on Sept 21 on g4.

By the way, YouTube won’t be YouTube if there won’t be already the first episode on it: here, here and here.

Max Payne

I really hope that the movie keeps what the trailer promises. The Max Payne trailer (Max Payne is played by Mark Wahlberg) is totally awesome and hopefully they caught the feeling of the game.

If you’re not familiar with the Max Payne feel, I must say it reminds a lot Sin City comics… something noir, and still got all that bullet time kicking ass sweetness, pretty much as a Matrix movie. I must insist, if you’ve never played any of Max Payne’s games before, YOU MUST PLAY THEM. It’s totally awesome!
